I’ve known Maren since she was a little girl.  I’m just astounded by how quickly time goes by when I realize she is now preparing to head off to Brigham Young University in a few short months.  But I’m so thrilled  and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this amazing girl.  Thank you, Maren and Leslie, for spending the afternoon with me so we could capture this pivotal moment in your life.  I thoroughly enjoyed it!

And thank you to my amazing hair and make-up artist, Lauren McCullough, for your talent.

A few weeks ago I have  the opportunity of traveling to New Orleans for Amanda Holloway’s Kitchen Sink Workshop focusing on every aspect of high school senior portraiture.  I’ve attended quite a few in-person photography workshops in the past few years and I must say, this one ranks at the top!  I don’t know if it was the fact that I had never been to New Orleans and the first night there we chatted and posed for a picture with Russell Brand who was eating at the same restaurant as us.  Or that I was able to meet an amazing group of fellow photographers.  Or my love of senior portraits, or that everything that Amanda taught resonated with me.  But I came away from that workshop inspired, excited and ready to kick off the senior season!  I can’t say enough good things about Amanda Holloway but I’ll say a few.  She is open and honest in sharing her “tricks” of the trade and doesn’t hold anything back.  She is a crazy smart business woman and has a keen eye for design.  I came away from the workshop having gained knowledge in shooting, editing, marketing, styling, and selling. Everything that I was looking for!

If you’ve never been to New Orleans, Louisiana, I highly recommend going at least once.  It’s such a unique place with rich history, beautiful old mansions, fascinating architecture, delicious food, a thriving art vibe, and amazing music.    We shopped at the French Market and ate beignets more than once at Cafe Du Monde.  I even tried shrimp and grits, alligator sausage, red beans and rice, and jambalaya.   Luckily we did a lot of walking that weekend!  I stayed an extra day and visited the Garden District where Alyssa and I took a walking tour of the big beautiful old mansions, including Anne Rice’s home.  It was a wonderful trip!  Here are a few of the highlights.

We were fortunate to have the sweetest girls modeling for us for two of the five days.  I’m sure they were as exhausted as we were by the end of the week.

If you’re a high school junior or senior in the Bay Area and have not had your senior portraits done yet, contact me.  I would love to work with you!
Happy Tuesday!

And I promise, a post about the incredible high school senior workshop is coming soon!!!

Happy Monday!

Whew! It’s been a busy past week. I had the incredible opportunity of attending a photography workshop focused on high school senior portraiture in New Orleans, Lousiana last week. My head is swimming with ideas and I can’t wait to shoot my first senior of 2012 in two weeks!  Images from the workshop coming soon!
While I was away, two amazing things happened!

One of my senior sessions was featured on Inside the Locker and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Especially because it was a senior guy session and it was one of my very favorites. So if you get the chance, check it out!

AND, remember when I shot Kira Stone’s album cover for her single, Peter Pan?  Well, itunes featured her in their top up and coming artists!  Woo-hoo!  I’m thrilled, and not at all surprised, at her success.  And I’m loving seeing my art pop up in places like itunes!!!
