Project 12 | December

January 1, 2012

I can chalk 2011 as the year I took on too many personal projects.  Don’t get me wrong, I loved every single one of them.  In fact, many of them are still going strong, including What ____Looks Like, and Elevate | A Fine Art Photography Exploration, as well as Grace in [Focus].  But I’ve struggled with a few of them, including my Project 12.  My goal was to get my family together, all six of us, once a month for a picture.  A spontaneous picture of everyone together.  Once a month.  And it started out strong.  Until I got to month 4.  And then I lost momentum and my Project 12 turned into I’ll-Be-Luck-If-I-Take-One-Every-Other-Month Project.  Which is roughly what happened.  My Project 12 has officially ended as a Project 6.  And I’m actually OK with that.  That’s 5 more pictures of us together than we had last year.  I plan on attempting this project again in 2012 because I really believe in it and I hope it has inspired others to set the self-timer and record their families in the moment, real, and together.

Here is our final Project 12 image for 2011 taken on December 31st.  It’s not perfect, but it’s us.

September | {Project 12} | Bay Area Lifestyle Photographer

September 13, 2011

So.  My Project 12 is only a Project 4 so far.  It should be a Project 9 by now.  I’m either way too swamped with work and life, or I can’t get my family in one spot and willing to humor me in front of the camera.  I’ll say it’s a lot of both.

But I’m determined to see this project through to December.  So I rounded everyone up on Sunday morning before anyone had a chance to shower or get dressed and made them give me 5 minutes.  Here are the results.

This is us.  This is our real life.  September 2011.

And just for fun…

Now get out there, set your self timer, and capture your own family real and raw and now.

Bay Area Photographer | Project 12 | Wendy VonSosen Photography

June 12, 2011

Soooooo…  Let’s pretend like it’s the end of May instead of the middle of June.

Because I just realized May came and went without a family pictures.  So, we hurried out as the sun was setting, to the baseball field that we’ve spent the better part of spring at watching Jack’s Little League team battle it out for the the 2011 Championship (which they won!  Woo-hoo!)  I thought it made sense to take our May picture there.  Again, no preparation.  No clothing changes.  No make-up touches.  No hair fixing.  This was us this evening after dinner.

Happy Spring!

Project 12: March | Bay Area Photographer

April 9, 2011

I’m a procrastinator.

Just ask my family.

That’s why we took our Project 12 image for March today.  The second week in April.  Right before my husband heads off on a business trip.

But this is my project so I gave myself the OK.

At least we took one.  That’s how I see it.

In pajamas no less.  No make-up.  No hair brushing.  Just the way we are on a Saturday morning.

Happy Saturday!

Project 12 February | Danville Photographer

February 2, 2011

I’m slowly but surely working on editing our images from our Maui trip.  I came across this one that we took with the self timer for our February Project 12 images.

Here we are in the raw.  No makeup.  No hair done.  No shoes on. Hardly any clothes on.

But that’s how we spent everyday.  Barefoot and sandy and happy.

Joy!

More pictures to come soon!
