What a crazy day!  I love fall.  It’s my favorite season.  But for an outdoor, natural light photographer, it can be tricky.  Knowing I was doing my second day of fall mini sessions, I kept my eye on the weather all week.  The day of the session it still wasn’t clear if it would rain or not.  In fact I kept checking the hourly forecast to see EXACTLY when the rain was supposed to start in EXACTLY the location we would be shooting.  Unfortunately the weather isn’t THAT predictable so I had to go on faith that we wouldn’t get rained on.  And we got lucky!

Here are a few from my first family.  Natasha and I collaborated last year on some head shot work for her newly launched business.  I was thrilled to learn that her business has taken off and she’s busier than ever and is currently thinking through how she’ll juggle life with a sweet new baby on the way.   Isn’t this just the cutest family?  They were so fun to work. with!  Enjoy your peek!

Have I mentioned how much I love repeat clients?  This family is no exception.  This is the fourth time I’ve photographed them and I still look forward to each session.  But truth be told, their mom motivates them to come by telling them that they’ll get to see my Maddy.  They adore her and she adores them just as much.  As you can tell in the picture.

Enjoy!

I’ve been in the editing trenches for the last week finishing my mini session galleries.

I wanted to share a couple from this beautiful family who were wonderful to work with.  You may remember this sweet baby from her newborn session.  I love  being able to see these tiny ones grow up and watch their progression as they go from itty bitty newborns to roly-poly babies to mischievous toddlers and on to playful kids.  It’s one of my favorite parts of being a photographer.

Enjoy!

I soooo enjoyed last weekend’s holiday mini sessions.  Each family was styled impeccably and all of the kids were thrilled to be on a ranch in the presence of real life cows.  Our good friends who own the Broken Tongue Land and Livestock Ranch in Danville, allowed us access to their beautiful old pick-up trucks and majestic oak trees for the afternoon.  And what a gorgeous evening we had.  We couldn’t have asked for more.

Here’s just one from my first family last weekend.  Seriously.  Who looks that good after four kids?!  You may recognize Baby Harris from his newborn session a while back.  They are truly the sweetest and happiest family.

There are still a few slots open for my second day of mini sessions, November 5th.  These will be held in a grassy field on an antique wrought-iron bed.  I am so excited!!!  Contact me if you want to snag one of the two remaining slots!  wendy@wendyvonsosen.com.

Happy Wednesday!

I love photographing in clients’ homes.  I actually prefer it over shooting in a field or at a park or in an alley somewhere.  Wanna know why?  Because it’s personal and unique and comfortable.  Nobody else will have the same location in their photographs.  For most of us, home is one of our favorite spots.  It’s where we start and end our day with the people we love most.  It contains all of our favorite things.  Most of us have spent time and money and a bit of blood, sweat, and tears to make it “just right”.  Home is personal, unique, and comfortable.  Home is… you!  And 99% of the time, no matter the size or location, we can find beautiful light in every home.

That’s one of the reasons I was thrilled when I found out I’d be photographing this fun young family at their home in one of my favorite Bay Area neighborhoods.  The tree-lined streets are filled with cozy unique homes full of vintage character.  When I stepped into their home, I could tell they had worked their own magic to make it “theirs”.  The nursery alone was beyond amazing with walls full of skyscrapers and a mobile that was so very cool.  And this couple fit their home to a T.  They are young and talented and so very sweet.  I’m thrilled to have had the chance to photograph them with their adorable new baby, Oliver.  He was just the cutest little guy and such a trooper as we changed outfits and diapers and rooms and locations.  Thank you for an enjoyable afternoon!
