OK.  I am just a little obsessed with Amy Lockheart of Amy Lucy Photography and these images she sent.  First of all I ADORE her work and second of all, I am so impressed with the creativity she used to showcase her prints.  I mean, who looks at an antique flower frog and says, “I think this is perfect to display a photo.” ?  Honestly I don’t think I even knew what a flower frog was before she sent these to me.  Amy, I am so inspired to look around my home and get creative!

Thank you so much, Wendy, for including me in this wonderful blog series. Getting photos off our hard drives and up on our walls is so important. I am a huge fan of bold canvases and groupings of simple, elegant wall frames. I have a number of bare walls waiting for large displays and I look forward to completing those projects soon. I just have to finish painting first!

Right next to our front door, I have one of the first large prints I ever ordered, a 10×20 float wrap. I still love it because it shows my kids’ true personalities.

I love to use vintage treasures to make unique wall displays. There is something so wonderful about knowing that I not only created the images, but also came up with a unique way to display those works of art. I found these old washboards, used them in a creative session with my girls, and then used them as frames to display the images from that session. I placed a ¾ inch standout mounted print in between the washboards. Now whenever I go in our laundry room, I am greeted by these images of my beautiful girls. They definitely make doing laundry more bearable.

I used antique metal flower frogs and old clothes pins from an estate sale to make this display on a wall that is near our pantry. The prints are 8x12s mounted on styrene and swapping them with other prints is as simple as unclipping them from the clothes pins.

I like to print 4x6s of my images and display them in smaller areas. I love being able to change them out on a whim, and changing these couldn’t be easier. In my bathroom I have an antique flower frog which doubles as a photo holder. It makes me happy to see this image next to the tub.

I had some very old wooden blocks and use those to display 4x6s as well. I made a small cut into the side so photos are able to slide in and stay upright.

I found this turn of the century wooden bicycle wheel at a flea market and instantly knew it would be a unique and creative way to display photos. My favorite thing about this is that I can use it to show my own photos, but can easily change how I use it. In December I can clip Christmas cards to it, and other times I can use it for birthday cards. When I’m feeling nostalgic, I can use it to display my great grandparents’ postcards from the early 1900s.

Having my own work displayed on my walls is so special to me. I can’t wait to order and hang many big canvases and framed prints on walls that are still bare. Thank you, Wendy, for showcasing the walls of many talented and inspiring photographers this month.
