Black Friday Specials – Newborn and Senior Sessions | Today ONLY!

November 25, 2011

I don’t know about you, but I love Black Friday Deals!

I think it’s the adrenaline of waking up early or maybe it’s the thrill of the deadline or it could be the excitement of calculating just how much money I saved in the end.  Yep, I think that’s probably my favorite part.  Saving money.  Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the Day-After-Christmas Sales are my favorite.  Standing in line in front of Crate and Barrel with my parents and sisters early the day after Christmas with hot chocolate in hand ready to bound through the doors with the hordes of like-minded deal-seekers.  That’s one of my favorite holiday memories.  Don’t judge.

So in the spirit of like-minded deal-seekers, I’m offering a one-day only special on two of my very favorite sessions!!!  Newborns and Seniors!!!

What’s included?  Newborn Session Special $500* (Regular price $1500).  Included 2-3 hours at your home within the first 10 days after birth.  I will edit your gallery with at least 20 fully edited images.  You will choose your favorite 10 images and I will put those on a CD with a print release allowing you to print them yourself as many times as you’d like and gives you the peace of mind of having these precious images forever.

What happens when I book? When you book your newborn session, I pencil in your due date on my calendar. Once baby is born you notify me ASAP (while you are still in the hospital) so I can block off a window of time for your session. The best time to photograph baby is under 10 days of age, so the earlier you contact me after baby is born, the better.

How do I book?  Shoot me an email at wendy@wendyvonsosen.com or call 801.913.3930. Your full session fee of $500 (plus CA sales tax) must be paid today to qualify. I will require a PaylPal email for the deposit invoice.  Expiration date will be one year from today. Please contact me if you have any additional questions.  Gift cards also available.

*8.25% Sales tax will apply to all sales.

What’s included?  Senior Session Special $800* ( regular price $1950).  A pre-session phone consultation to brainstorm and finalize ideas.  This year I’ve included a full professional make-up application and hair styling appointment for all of my senior girls!  We will then spend 2-3 hours at our predetermined destinations photographing with as many wardrobe changes as needed.  Approximately two weeks after the session, we will have an in-person ordering session where I will share with you your gallery of 25-30 images and you will choose your favorite 20 to be put on a CD with a print release so you can print the images as many times as you’d like.

How do I book?  Shoot me an email at wendy@wendyvonsosen.com or call 801.913.3930. Your full session fee of $800 (plus CA sales tax) must be paid today to qualify. I will require a PaylPal email for the deposit invoice.  Expiration date will be one year from today. Please contact me if you have any additional questions.  Gift cards also available.

Available  to clients in the San Francisco Bay Area.

*8.25% Sales tax will apply to all sales.

This deal will expire at 11:59pm CST. Your email must be sent by 11:59 pm CST to qualify.  I take a limited number of sessions per month, so this special will be on a first-come, first-served basis. So please hurry!!

And…

Happy Black Friday!!!

Fifty-two Fridays | BLACK | Danville, California Photographer

November 25, 2011

Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

Our theme this week:

Black

This was taken during our weekend get-away to Santa Monica.  My awesome husband humored me by posing under the pier for a few pictures.  I love this one in black and white.

Fifty-two Fridays | Sky | Danville California Photographer

November 18, 2011

If you’ve just stumbled upon my blog for the first time, you can read more about this year-long project HERE.

This week’s theme:

SKY

My husband and I were fortunate enough to sneak away from our responsibilities at home and spend a few days in Santa Monica last weekend.  Actually, I tagged along with him on a business trip that we extended a couple of days.  But whatever.  It was a relaxing, and much-needed break from the craziness of life right now.

One evening, while my husband was at a dinner event, I decided to walk to the boardwalk with my camera to see what I could capture.  In hindsight it may not have been the best idea since I was alone, it was getting dark and I had a huge camera slung over my shoulder.  But whatever.  My plan was to somehow take a very cool shot of the boardwalk ferris wheel and all of the fun lights at night.  But when I started shooting,  I couldn’t quite find the ideal spot to shoot and get what I wanted in the frame.  So instead I turned around and looked toward the end of the pier and LOVED what I saw with the daylight disappearing and the lights from the restaurant.  Because I wanted to slow the wave action down and create more of a calm feel to the water I knew I needed to try for a long exposure.  Of course I didn’t have a tripod so I ended up sitting on the ground leaning up against a pole and wedging my camera between the pole and railings using all my might to keep the camera steady.  Ten seconds is a long time to hold your breath when you’re sitting on a dark pier with your camera wedged in a railing hoping the waves don’t cause the pier to sway.  But whatever.  If you’re curious, this was shot with my D700 and 35mm 1.4 lens at f/16, ISO 125 for 10 seconds.  Edited with a slight S curve, slight increase in saturation and a slight vignette.

Don’t miss the circle this week as we begin to wind down our project in the next two months, starting with the talented Kara Jo – Memphis, Tennessee Photographer.

Happy Weekending!

Fall Event | Danville Children’s Guild | Danville California Photographer

November 17, 2011

Last week I had the opportunity to take pictures during Danville Children’s Guild‘s Annual Fall Event at the beautiful Diablo Country Club.  The event benefited CASA of Contra Costa County.  I was impressed by the number of women from my community who came out to support the Guild as well as CASA.  With the crazy schedules we have, many of us moms of multiple kids, to spend an entire school day at an event supporting other local children, instead of doing our usual grocery shopping, laundry, errands, and random daily minutia, was wonderful.

I was thrilled to meet and photograph Kristi Yamaguchi who emceed the fashion show.  She was a fabulous addition to the day which also consisted of a silent auction, holiday bazaar and luncheon.  I enjoyed meeting and photographing old and new friends.

If you’re local and would like to volunteer with an amazing group of women in supporting local needs in our community, consider joining Danville Children’s Guild.

November | {Elevate} A Fine Art Exploration | Danville California Photographer

November 14, 2011

This project feels like Christmas morning every month when it rolls around.  I love it for so many reasons.  I am fortunate enough to share this project with the amazing talents of  Maureen Wilson,  Jules Trandem, Brenda Acuncius, Nichole Van, Stacey Woods, Gina Oh, Marianne Drenthe, Jefra Starr Linn, Martha Schuster, Jennifer Nguyen, Kamee June, Tamara Burross, and Andrea Tate.  The pressure of creating something worthy of this circle motivates me every month.  But my favorite part of this project has been the opportunity to try new things.  When I create images for clients, my work remains consistent so that clients can see my “style” and know what they can expect.  But when I work on personal projects, it’s my opportunity to play around with new methods in-camera and in post production.

Last month I worked with several different images to blend them into one composite with a nod to the supernatural for the month of Halloween.  Here in California November is the beginning of the rainy season so I wanted to create something consistent with this season.  I knew I wanted to do a black and white in the rain so I took my muse out, at the first sign of rain, to this very cool bridge.  Once I began the editing process, I decided to experiment with some of the tools I rarely, if ever, use.  After many hours and much trial and error the resulting image included the use of  the artistic paint daubs filter.  I really like the way it turned out and may just have this printed for my wall.

Join me as I visit the amazing talent in our group starting with Nichole Van | Utah Portrait and Wedding Photographer.

Happy Monday!
