Meet our good friends from Utah.  They were our neighbors during the two years we lived there.  I stopped in over Thanksgiving because they volunteered to let me try my hand at a little lifestyle photography with them.   Which basically means I  just hung out with them at their house for a couple of hours and took pictures while they went about their business.  I loved it!  I am furiously editing because I am loving sEdito many of these shots.  I wanted to put some up so they could see a little of what I captured while I was there.

Isn’t she just gorgeous?

Enjoy your sneak peek you guys!!!

How exciting to have [B]ecker as the guest judge this week!  He is an incredible Los Angeles wedding photographer.  I’m a huge fan!

Our challenge this week was to post a photo with some sun flare.  This is a photo taken right as I was getting serious about photography.  I had done a little research about how to capture sun flare and was in the backyard with my daughter practicing.

To see more fun photos with sun flare, head on over to iheartfaces.  While you’re at it, go visit [B]ecker and check out all the cool photography tutorials he has.  You’ll quickly become a fan if you aren’t already.

Sneak Peek: S Family

November 21, 2009

We’ve lived here for a little over a year now but we have yet to catch Boise Blue Fever.

But these guys surely have a full blown case of it and they brought it out this afternoon.

Aren’t they gorgeous?!  The nicest, and sweetest friends too.

S family, enjoy your sneak peek!

This is the best job in the world!

There’s nothing that even comes close to the sweetness of a newborn.  Since I’m not having any more of my own, I still get to have my “fix” when I photograph newborns.  I’m SO lucky!!!

Miss Brooklyn is new around here.  In fact she was 13 days-old when I met her.  She was such a good sleeper for me.  In fact, when I was  finished shooting her asleep, I wanted to get a few shots of her with her eyes open.  Well, she was having none of that.  It was her naptime and she was not going to be interrupted.   Isn’t she precious?!!

Here’s her big brother who kept asking his mom, “where did that lady [with the camera] go?”

Enjoy your sneak peek!

i heart faces – fall

November 17, 2009

I’ve been so busy working on this blog site that I haven’t entered any of the iheartfaces photo contests lately.

But since I’ve been lucky to have photographed so many families in the last couple of months with the awesome fall colors, I figured I would join in this week.

Here’s my entry:

Go check out all the fun fall pics here.

Finally!

November 17, 2009

My new blog site is up and running (or at least strolling along).

Who knew customizing a blog could take so much time?  Oh yeah, I did.

I finally have a home for all things photography related.

This is where I’ll post sneak peeks for clients as well as images I have captured through my lens.

You can also scroll through my galleries up top and check out all the amazing people who have been part of my portfolio building these past few months.

I hope you bookmark me, come back often, and let me know what you think.

Finally…

November 17, 2009

My new blog site is up and limping along.  But it’s up all the same.

I’ve really wanted to separate my personal blog from my photography blog for quite some time.  But creating an entirely new blog site is a TON of  work.

I’ve been neglecting this blog for so long in an effort to get my photography business up and running.  Now that my busy fall season is coming to a close, I will have some time to devote to personal blogging.  Yay!

So, go check out my new site.  I’ve loaded the galleries with lots of the faces I’ve been lucky to photograph in the past few months.  I’m working on adding music and tweaking all the details, but for the most part, it’s dressed enough to go out in public.

Sneak Peek: C Family

November 7, 2009

What a genuinely sweet and sincere family I had the pleasure of shooting today.

They have spent hours upon hours working together at this orchard over the years.

What an apropos spot to get some portraits taken.

We were thrilled to see there were still some leaves hanging onto the branches this late in the fall.

Thanks for listening to my lame jokes this afternoon.  I promise to collect some new ones soon.

Enjoy your sneak peek!

Sneak Peek: S & J

November 6, 2009

After keeping my eye on the fickle weather today as it rained on and off with gusts of wind here and there, I wasn’t so sure this shoot was going to happen.

Luckily, we ventured out and managed to avoid getting wet.

These two were awesome!  I only had to mention McSteamy and gorgeous Miss S would swoon just a little.  And the mention of Mr. J’s fine punting skills elicited some great smiles.

Thanks for trekking through dirt and cornfields and sand with me this afternoon.

Enjoy your sneak peek!!!

fix-it friday

FacesFixIt

Before:

girl in pink

My workflow in CS4:

1.  Duplicated the image

2.  Color corrected using curves

3.  Levels adjustment to add contrast

4.  Using the patch tool to remove spot on cheek

5. Bumped up the exposure using a curves layer

6. Bumped up saturation and masked back the face

7.  hi-passed the eyes

8. Added Blue Lily’s sweet water action masking back here and there for variety

9.  Brightened eyes with an inverted curves layer just on the eyes

10.  Rotated 90% and flipped vertically

11.  Cropped to 5×7

12.  Noiseware at 40%

13.  Sharpened for web

A great picture to begin with if just a little under exposed.

My edit:

Halloween catch-up

November 3, 2009

In between editing shoots, my Photoshop class assignments, and the crazy week of Halloween, I have not updated this blog with anything other than Photography stuff.

I’m actually in the process of developing a separate blog specifically for photography which I hope to be up and running by Thanksgiving.  I miss posting about my regular life and all the blase things that are going on.

Halloween was a success.  We have a ton of candy hanging around, and even more wrappers.  The candy fairy may have to pay us a visit soon.

Here are some pics of a dead ventriloquist, Charles Bronson, a true Jedi, and Ron Weasley…

Hope you had a fantastic Halloween!
