A Spring Break Miracle…

March 25, 2009

Scrub the toilet…

Match the socks…

Alphabetize the pantry…

Have her teeth pulled…

are all things this girl would rather do than READ!

That is…until our TWILIGHT party when she saw the movie for the first time.

For the past three days READING is the only thing she HAS done.

maddy-reading-1She’s on the third book.

That’s 1,300 pages read in three days!!!

maddy-reading

An entire Spring Break spent reading?  I would have NEVER guessed it was possible.

Thank you Stephenie Meyer!

Wow, I’m impressed with all that reading!!!! I have to admit, I myself am a twilight junkie!!!! The books are so good. I am very excited for the next movie, hopefully it will have a bit more “bite” to it…no pun intended. Oh, and I am completely impressed that you had a Twilight party, great idea!!!!!

That’s wonderful! And so is that bedroom!

Wow, that really IS amazing for a teenage girl to want to spend spring break READING!!! But, I hear that stuff is a little bit good.

I’ll cover my head as I say that I have not seen the movie NOR read any of the books. Okay, first page while I was using my hubby’s bathroom. :)

Hey wendy! It easily took me 30 hrs.. I started in January and would work on it in spurts. I don’t know if blurb will slurp from wordpress… but I know you can just cut and paste. A little more tedious.. but I change the layout quite a bit anyway. Love those pics behind her bed p.s…

VERY COOL! My second daughter is like that. We promised her a cell phone when she read 10 books. I thought it would take until she turned 12, but that girl plowed through books … it was incredible!

I remember getting hooked on the “Sweet Valley High” series and reading like a possessed person—but I think Twilight is probably a more memorable read :)

Good for you Maddy! I am so glad she likes to read now. She is perfect sitting on her bed. You/ve changed the wall behind it. Looks nice! Love you all.

I’m so proud right now. She’s a girl after my own heart.

I have to admit, nothing cheers my heart more than seeing my kids engrossed in a book. A whole new world opens up for them. Glad your baby found one she loves.

Guess it’s true that reading is FUNdamental. :)

Keller is my reluctant reader. Wish I could find something that he’d gobble up like that! Good for her! Here’s hoping that this is the beginning of a life of reading for her. I’ve come to accept though, that some people…it’s just not something that they enjoy-as outrageous as that is to me! We can’t all be the same, I guess.

I have a friend who is an English teacher and there was nothing he could do to get his students to read…. until Twilight. He loves Stephanie Meyers for that! I love to read so it is awesome that she has helped so many people read. Good for your daughter, hopefully she will enjoy it and want to read more but everyone is different!!

Aren’t you glad you finally caved? I don’t care how many people are critical (jealous) of her writing/ideas/success, those books are the fastest page turners I’ve ever read.

I can’t blame her. I am on the third book too and watched the movie 3 times now. Love Twilight! Party hopping and participating too so stop in for a visit.

That’s so great! If Twilight can’t do it, nothing would! It has my “none reader” reading as well, but not as fast! Have fun!

    Good for her.

I want to read the books, but our local library doesn’t have them and I cannot afford to purchase them.

I’m blog hopping via the Ultimate Blog Party. Nice to meet you.

I completely understand :) I didnt do too much housework (or anything else for that matter) the whole three weeks it took me to read all four and watch the movie 10 times.
