Someday…

January 21, 2009

Someday I’ll wake up and not have little toothbrushes to put away…

Someday, I won’t have damp pink towels to hang up…

Someday I won’t have elfin shoes to hunt for in the corners of my house…

Someday my windows won’t have crayon dogs drawn on them…

Someday I won’t have a playroom strewn with Legos…

Someday I won’t have wee pajamas lying on my laundry room floor…

I hope that day is a long way off…

Happy Wednesday.

Thank you for giving me perspective on the day!! As someone who has a son halfway through his junior year, I’m wanting to put the brakes on, big time! Again – thank you!

  2. Chrissy says:

Somedays it’s hard to believe we will miss all the messes and especially the laundry….but time goes too fast! Thanks for the reminder!

  3. Lori says:

I agree, it goes by way too fast!

  4. Melissa says:

WOW. What a great post. Opened my eyes wider than they have been in long time.

A long way off goes very quickly ——–BUT, as a consolation, now I have 10 grandkids to do the very same things. They scatter toys all through the house, break things, put prints on my dusted furniture and polished windows, (and a little snot, can’t forget the snot) and when they go home ………..I just think. GOSH I LOVE THOSE KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Sherine says:

I’m soooo with you on this one… please please be a long way off!!! (except for laundry.. that part I won’t miss.)

I was reading the Joy in the Journey talk by Pres. Monson today…hoping to convince myself that

    a) I’ll miss all that laundry when it’s gone (if the prophet says it, it’s true, right???)

    b) there is joy in the journey. I need my joy back.

Good sentimental post Wendy. It is true I look at you and have to think back a long way to remember your cute round, happy face trailing me around and today I am so proud of who and what that face and body have become. Enjoy it now, and you can still enjoy it, but differently, later:)

  9. Nikki says:

When the day comes….it’s beautiful/ugly….but you do get a lot more naps!

    Here Here!!!
I used to work very hard to keep fingerprints off my windows and doors. Now I actually miss those little light catchers, so when my granddaughters leave after a visit I love it when I catch those chubby digit prints and I leave them there for a little while.
    Thanks for the perspective.

I’ve thought the same things! (especially about toothpaste smeared all over sinks!)
