Memory Monday – Imaginative Juices Needed

November 24, 2008

swimsuit-boys

This is another of my favorites from the pile of pictures Ralf brought back from his trip to Austria.  It just makes me smile.  I was hoping to get a little story behind this picture, but it was new to Charlotte.  Here’s what she did say.

My dad (Robert) is 2nd from the left, sitting down is my uncle Charlie, my dad’s best friend and married to his sister Hilda. This must be in the 1930s.

From what my site reader tells me, I have way more readers than commenters.  And I know some of them are far funnier and better writers than myself. So, for this Memory Monday, I need your help.

Who are these crazy Austrians and what in the heck were they doing when this picture was taken???

I’ll post some of the best comments later in this week for you to read as you’re sprawled out on your aunt’s Barcalounger in a tryptophanic coma induced by too much turkey and pumpkin pie.

Happy Memory Monday!

Okay, this picture is cracking me up – look at their swimsuits and what is the deal with the guy whose sweats are up around his chest…. to funny! I am totally guessing that it was a day at the lake! My creative jucies are gone, but if I think of something funny I will comment once again!

ps. I am super happy the UTES won, however, I was sort of sad when BYU stopped playing half way through. I liked the first half with the back and forth score a lot better.

You can tell that that is the same country that produced Arnold Schwarzenegger ;) . Good genes!

Is Ralf OK with you posting this?? Ha ha I can’t think of a thing – I’m the wrong person to ask. But yes, as Amanda said, it’s definitely a day at the lake. Weren’t those suits rather revealing for the 1930′s?? Maybe this is where Ralf gets it from. :) I don’t know why Ralf is so fun to tease like this. Maybe because he dishes it out so much.

I don’t know if I have anything imaginative to add, but I love that picture! Those swimsuits are so funny and I love the guy that has his sweats pulled up so high. And what does that guy have between his legs in front? Is it a frisbee? And are they playing frisbee in those speedos? So funny! They are all fine specimens of masculinity though… Great picture to add to the archives!

During the summer, the boys decided to spend a weekend at the lake. Camping was always popular and a great way to meet girls. During the day, they did some hiking through the meadows and orchards and took a lunch break. They all took off their shirts, and some even their pants – revealing very sexy under garments. As they were all athletic fellows, and liked to impress the girls who were also picnicking on the same meadow, they started some athletic competitions including sprinting (therefore the mini briefs), wrestling (one got a wedgie, hence his high-waisters), and discus throwing (note the discus between uncle Charlie’s legs). The ladies were so impressed that they had them pose for this picture which was later published in a risque Austrian women’s magazine – ‘Die Sexy Frau’.

Now you know the true story behind this picture.

I don’t know.. but your dad robert seems like the only one who wouldn’t be embarrased by it years later. I’m blushing just looking at it.
